Discussing the film during a question and answer session in Los Angeles (based on Yahoo! Films), McKay began to explain how Lawrence immersed himself in his character, before the actor said, “I know what you’re going to say, and I wasn’t pregnant. [at the time]. “
The director then agreed, “You weren’t pregnant,” before saying, “May I say this?” Lawrence replied, “I think so, but no one tells my mother-in-law.”
McKay later said that Lawrence had asked permission to smoke a joint before filming a scene with Meryl Streep that featured no lines of dialogue. “Because my character was getting high in the movie,” interjected Lawrence.
“So Jen said, ‘Are you going to throw some improv at me?’ Which we always do,” McKay continued. “And I was like, ‘No, you can get high.’
She continued, “I kept turning to my script supervisor, Cate Hardman, and I was like, ‘I just want to say,’ Hi Jen. I think I have an idea for a monologue for you ”. And I’d look at Jen and say, ‘I can’t do it. It would be too cruel. So I left you alone. “
“I was a real target,” Lawrence replied. “Everybody was screwing with me… I guess because I was high. Easy to fuck. “
The official trailer of Don’t look up was released last week, starring Jennifer Lawrence alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett and more.
The film will premiere worldwide on Netflix on December 24.
