Tesla CEO Elon Musk said it’s “totally cool” if his employees listen to music at work as long as the colleagues around them are happy with their musical choices.
CNBC reported that they got a couple of emails Musk sent to Tesla employees in the first week of October, expressing his views on listening to music in the workplace.
“An associate just sent me a note asking if we could have a music headset so the other ear can hear security-related issues. That sounds good to me,” Musk said in the letter.
“Plus, the background music from the speakers is also totally great as long as there is reasonable agreement between your colleagues regarding the musical options,” he added.
According to the report, Musk is known for his spontaneous mass communication, from spiel on Twitter to emails from “everyone” that he sends to all employees of his electric vehicle company.
The first said that listening to music at work with a headset to listen for safety-related issues was fine.
The second, harsher email reminded employees that there are only three options when Musk sends out instructions: explain why he’s wrong, request more clarification, or execute.
At the time, Tesla had just announced record third-quarter deliveries despite supply chain pressures, most notably chip shortages.
