New ‘Matrix 4’ trailer reveals the Chosen One isn’t who we think

If you weren’t already on the hype train for The Matrix Resurrections, now is the time to get on board. While the sequel’s marketing paused briefly after the explosive first trailer, we’ve recently received a wave of stylish posters and more importantly new TV commercials. The footage from the fourth installment of The Matrix continues to keep plot details to an absolute minimum, but this latest preview could reveal an incredible shift in the franchise’s core story.

While the focus may be primarily on Neo’s eventual awakening, it seems that Resurrections he’s hinting at the Trinity uprising. We’ve seen Trinity perform her own incredible feats (resurrecting Neo in Matrix and facing the Merovingian underworld is just scratching the surface). Now, in the latest selection of TV commercials, Neo offers the first clue to analyze: “I never thought I was the one, but she did.”

This could be taken as a poignant moment of reflection, but more importantly, Neo speaks this line in the real world. So now that we can confirm that Neo will escape his imprisonment in the simulation, his moment of recollection could be inspired by a new era in The One anomaly. Matrix Resurrections trailer, the goal of characters like “Morpheus” and Bunny seems to be to rejuvenate Neo’s consciousness, but Trinity is trapped in the same simulation.

“Morpheus” appears in these new clips, highlighting the importance of the moment. “That’s it. This is your last chance,” he proclaims to Neo within the confines of the dojo. At this point, it is clear that Neo can defend himself in a fight and display new telekinetic abilities. But what about Morpheus’ new mission? is it unlocking Trinity’s path to The One, instead of Neo?

The story of the Matrix trilogy is as old as time itself: the hero’s journey. The noble, though unconscious Anderson turned into Neo overcoming the impossible, just as apparently predicted in the prophecy. However, we came to learn in The reloaded matrix that Neo’s fate was never going to be this dry. He was simply a pawn in The Architect’s master plan. Trinity never witnessed this event directly, but now it is essential to discover the secret of the simulation.

Neo is also not the only character who travels to mysterious facets of the Matrix. It is revealed that Trinity is accompanying him, giving an even greater clue to his mission. “We were on our way to redo your world, ”he says, speaking to the Red Pills youth gang in the original film. At this point in the story, Neo and Trinity have reconnected, but it remains to be seen how much they have remembered about their past.

Neo himself has shown that he is capable of reshaping certain aspects of the Matrix and even redefining how simulation works. Even Agent Smith was able to corrupt the system like a virus, almost escaping into the real world as well. But what will unleash a fully functioning Trinity? We’ve already seen her use new powers in the trailer, and Matrix lore reveals that she shares the same enhanced genetic code as Neo. Maybe Mr. Anderson wasn’t the one after all …

The One’s prophecy may have been wrong, but a new story is on the horizon. And our iconic heroes are back to free your mind.
