Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello breakup details: ‘The romance just fizzled’

Why did Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello separate?

Two days after the singers of “Senorita” and “I know what you did last summer” announced their separation, new information has emerged about their separation conversation and what went wrong in general.

Mendes, 23, “started the conversation” with the Cinderella star, 24, last week about the end of her two-year romance, a source from Cabello told E! News.

She was “very upset about the division,” added the source, but “agreed” that it was for the best. She had a difficult “few days” but has relied on friends and otherwise kept busy.

“She has a huge support system and now she feels renewed,” said the source.

As for the reasoning, “the relationship was getting stale and complacent and they decided they better be friends,” the source said.

TO People The magazine source also pointed out that things are getting stale.

“It just wasn’t a relationship that could move forward at this point,” a source told the outlet. “It seems like the romance just slipped away.”

In their breakup statement on Wednesday, the couple said their friendship would continue.

“Hello guys, we have decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love as human beings is stronger than ever,” they wrote. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We greatly appreciate your support from the beginning and into the future.” Camila and Shawn signed it.

Things were looking good between them recently when they shared photos from their Day of the Dead celebration on November 1. They were playful in the video and dressed up together.

That was the last trace they shared on social media. Since then, the former Fifth Harmony singer has gotten a tattoo and has been sharing photos of hikes and yoga. Mendes has been quiet.

Fans have been really interested in her real life love story. For years, before they were officially a couple, fans wondered, “Are they or aren’t they there?” They denied it, but they also mocked him. After the release of “Señorita” in 2019, her PDA could not be hidden off stage.

They stopped trying to hide it themselves that year, filming their infamous kiss video in September 2019. The following year, they got a dog, Tarzan, together. They talked about how the quarantine in Miami brought them closer together. And their last red carpet was the Met Gala in September in which they both showed skin and affection for each other.
